The End of an Era, the Beginning of a New Day

obamasI know it’s not just me.  We feel it, we talk about it, post memes about our emotions.  The mourning of the loss of our 44th president is palpable. But the esteem of having even witnessed a black man as president is still lastingly blissful.

Making my own correlation here but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that during the same time we’ve had a black first family we’ve had a rise in our natural hair movement.  Regardless of the texture of of the hair of our beloved Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia, the culture they represented and reflected shone a light onto the facets of black culture and self acceptance. May the journey to acceptance, self knowledge and truth continue for us all.

2 NYE Hair Styles Inspired by Our Girl Janelle Monae

New Year’s eve is right around the corner and plans with your favorite people are a must.  Next on the list, something sparkly, furry, feathery, leathery, or lacy to wear. And most important the perpetual question of life. What to do with your hair? Naturalistas, new naturals, transitioners and chemically processed belles, here are two NYE looks we love due to their level of prettiness and versatility.  Janelle Monae rocks two super cute looks that can be achieved with your natural hair, extensions – sew-in,crochet, clip ins, or wigs. Afro’s are so chic aren’t they?  Whether TWA, twist-out inspired fro, curly or kinky fro afro’s elevate every look.  We love how Janel Monae rocks a kinky coily free form afro with face framing bangs.  With the second style a high afro puff meets kinky bangs. A perfect up do that masques all flaws. If your twist out, flat twist out or was go didn’t exactly come out the way you planned this style pulls it all together literally.  Simply pull up all your tresses and the magic of the puff transforms old or failed twist/braid outs.  Or add some clip ins and fingerstyle for this pretty, classic up do.  Ok Belle’s how will are you planning to wear your hair on NYE?

Until next time belles,

Xo Leslie

Allow me to introduce myself…

leslie hamilton bellecocoaAs a person who identifies as an introvert with some extroverted tendencies making my online presence is…what is it?  It’s different and feels a bit vulnerable yet I embrace it as this space is created for women to know the person behind the brand.  Normally I’d be content being behind the scenes, but in an industry where many store owners and retailers do not reflect the customer base I take this opportunity to introduce myself and show you that I am like you. So feel free to ask me that very particular question you have about the hair, knowing that as a person who may share similarities to your physical attributes I understand where you are coming from and can answer from first hand experience. Belle Cocoa, is a textured hair extension and coveted accessories online shop specializing in quality textured hair extensions and the kinds of accessories that you HAVE to have.
